Biosafety Cabinet VS Laminar Flow Cabinets

  • Biosafety Cabinet

    - Provides protection for user, sample AND environment

    - Uses HEPA-filtered air with partial exhaust/recirculation

    - Required for working with hazardous materials (pathogens, toxins)

    - Has enclosed workspace with sash opening protection

    - Includes negative pressure containment features

    - Meets strict biosafety standards (NSF 49, EN 12469)

  • Laminar Flow Cabinet

    - Only protects the sample/work area

    - Uses unidirectional HEPA-filtered airflow (vertical/horizontal)

    - For non-hazardous sterile work (media prep, electronics)

    - Open front design with no personnel protection

    - No containment of aerosols/particulates

    - Meets cleanroom standards (ISO 14644.1)

    - More affordable with lower maintenance costs

Why is Laminar Flow Cabinet Essential for Modern Research?

Laminar flow cabinets deliver transformative value to laboratories by

creating contamination-free workspaces that protect sensitive experiments. Their HEPA-filtered ISO Class 5 environment ensures sterile conditions for critical applications like cell culture, PCR preparation, and microelectronics assembly, eliminating variables that compromise data integrity. By preventing sample contamination, these cabinets reduce costly experimental repeats while saving researchers valuable time, studies show they can decrease workflow disruptions by up to 30%. The durable stainless steel construction and validation-ready design support long-term reliability and compliance with stringent regulatory standards. For research demanding precision and reproducibility, laminar flow cabinets aren't just beneficial. They're essential infrastructure that safeguards both results and reputations.

Operation Manual and Maintenance Guide of Laminar Flow Cabinet

Operation Manual and Maintenance Guide of Laminar Flow Cabinet

1.To ensure the equipment can work properly for a long time, it is necessary to take off the pre-filter and clean it regularly according to the ambient cleanliness (usually every 4-6 months)

2.If the airflow speed in the working space is less than 0.08M/S then it is necessary to replace the high-efficient filter. For a new high-efficient filter, user can buy from our company. When replacing it, please pay attention to the arrow mark on the filter. Arrow points to the airflow’s direction.

3.Pre-filter is made with treated non-woven fabric of 5-8mm, fixed by a metal net and installed on top of the airflow entrance.

4. After cleaning, please clear the dirt and dust. Run the fan to check if the airflow goes properly and check if there is leakage. Operate after confirming there is no failure.

5.It is forbidden to refit interior structure. Please contact our after-sale department for the problems regarding quality.

6.Carefully carry and move the equipment to avoid damage.

7.If not use the equipment for a long time, it is suggested to take off the plug and turn off the main power switch.

FAQs of Laminar Flow Cabinet

Should I measure the surface of the oven or the cavity for measurement, and which parameters should I report when purchasing?

Our product specifications are mainly based on the dimensions of the cavity (height, width, depth, and volume). Key parameters to report include the temperature range, temperature accuracy, required uniformity, and the material of the cavity (all of these can be found in each product's description).

What is the difference between Kenton and other lab eqipment brands?
What is the difference between Kenton and other lab eqipment brands?

At Kenton, we set out to redefine laboratory equipment by addressing the real challenges researchers face every day. We tested countless instruments from other brands, only to find persistent gaps such as inconsistent temperature control, unreliable contamination prevention, and complicated designs that disrupt workflows. Too often, labs must choose between precision, durability, and affordability, settling for equipment that falls short in critical moments. That’s why we engineered Kenton products differently, product that brings together all these essential elements.

Can I try it before buying?
Can I try it before buying?

We recommend providing us with your product's temperature requirements before trying it. We can then offer recommendations or tailor a solution based on your specific needs. High temperatures may cause discoloration on the cavity of the product, which can affect future sales, so we do not recommend  testing if the temperature is too high.
